A good judge uses the proper color description when judging horses. 1.
Bay-body color tan to reddish-brown; mane, tail, and legs usually black. 2.
Black-body color true black without light areas. 3.
Blue Roan-uniform mixture of white and black hairs. 4.
Brown-body color brown or black with light areas around muzzle, eyes, flank, and inside legs. 5.
Buckskin-yellowish or gold; mane and tail black.
Do not have dorsal stripes. 6.
Chestnut-dark red or brownish-red; mane and tail dark red or brownish red, but can be flaxen. 7.
Dun-yellowish or gold; mane and tail may be black, brown, yellow, white, or mixed; usually have dorsal stripe, zebra stripes on legs, and transverse stripes over withers. 8.

Break the students into groups and assign them an oral presentation.
Have one group call area feed stores and compare feed prices of a certain feed like Omelene 200 by Purina.
Assign another group to look at different trailer manufacturer’s prices such as the prices of Featherlites compared to Four Stars (this would be better to do online).
The other group can look at different vet supply companies (if hard copies are not available, students can look at catalogs online such as Jeffers Vet Supply, KV Vet Supply, and Valley Vet) and compare the prices of horse wormers.
Another group can look at the differences between an English saddle and a western saddle and do cost comparisons. Evaluation 1.
