Special Free School Excursion offer to the Sydney CDI3* Dressage NSW is offering free school excursion tours to the Sydney CDI3 star, Australia’s premier International Dressage event, being held from the 2nd – 4th May 2013 at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, Horsley Park.
The tours are available on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd May – your opportunity to get up close to these beautiful horses and talk to their riders and coaches.
Your school goes ‘behind the scenes’ into the security controlled stable area to talk with the riders, meet their Grand Prix horses and learn about the staging of an International Equestrian event from officials such as the Stable Manager, Event Veterinarian, Chief Steward, coaches and Internationally accredited judges.
London 2012 Olympic Dressage rider, Lyndal Oatley is a special guest and will talk about her Olympic experience and preparation with your group.
This year, the spotlight is on the new kids on the block just starting their Grand Prix careers.
Expect some exciting competition as they aim to make their mark for future selection to the Rio Olympic Games.
Young Riders again feature this year, in their own Young Rider Under 25 Grand Prix International competition, as well as the 2012 CDIY World Cup Qualifier – the up and coming role models for our sport.
Young Horses are again on show in the 4/5 & 6yo classes and it is hoped to have a qualified young horse judge discuss the test with you.
Groups receive complementary CDI3* ‘show bags’.
Send this link to your school principle or sympathetic school teacher.
It will give them all the information and the booking form – http://www.pcansw.org.au/?Page=25471.
If you’re keen on working in the horse industry or competing at a high level, try not to miss this fabulous opportunity! We missed the last one 2 years ago, and our friend said they had an amazing day, and got some great personal advice on career choices.
How I Got Into Horses! Lyndal Oatley – London 2012 Olympic Dressage Rider It feels like I began this sport straight away, with my Mum introducing me to horses virtually straight after leaving hospital when I was born.
We are a horsey family, and horses have been just as huge a component to our lives as any other human necessity! I began riding at home in the Hunter Valley from as early as I can remember, and I knew that I would always want to be around horses and riding as a career.
I grew up showing horses and was twice named Australian Champion and was nominated for the Young Australian of the Year for my achievements.
I decided to pursue dressage after watching my cousin Kristy Oatley compete at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and being inspired by the spectacle of the Games.
After I finished my HSC, I completed my Bachelor of Business in Marketing and Business Management at Charles Sturt University.
I met my husband Patrik Kittel, a Swedish Dressage Specialist, whilst looking for a horse in Europe.
We were married at Hamilton Island, and we got swine flu at our wedding, so it wasn’t a boring one! He actually fainted as we walked down the aisle on the beach.
I remember him saying ‘You look beautiful’ as he passed out.” We now live together in Germany.
Patrik is also my coach, and at the London Olympics we competed against each other.
But at the end of the day we are partners and I don’t have to explain to him why I live and breathe horses, as he feels exactly the same way. .
You can meet Lyndal in person at the Sydney CDI School Excursion. For Sale If you have any outgrown horsey gear, name your price and let me know.
