Country/ Plantation Division. 1.
This is a two-gaited division for gaited breeds not exhibiting the canter.
Cross entries into English or Western Divisions (requiring a canter) are not permissible. 2.
Horses and rider may choose to be outfitted for either English (Saddle Seat) or Western.
See appropriate rules on attire and equipment above. 3.
Fitting and Showing. See Fitting and Showing/Showmanship in the West Virginia 4-H Horse and Pony Show Rule Book, 4-H 856-04 for class routine and description.
Entries must have proper English or Western attire as described above. 4.
Country/Plantation Pleasure. Entries will be judged at the walk and 2nd gait (running walk, fox trot, etc) both directions of the arena.
Horses may reverse to the outside or inside of the arena.
Horses will be judged on manners and performance.
Horses must stand quietly and may be asked to back. 5.
Country/Plantation Equitation. This class will be judged as described in English (Saddle Seat) Equitation in the West Virginia 4-H Horse and Pony Show Rule Book, 4-H 856-04, except that the canter or 3rd gait will not be asked for.
Tack and attire must meet either the English (Saddle Seat) or Western rules described above for performance classes. 6.
Country/Plantation Obstacle. See Trail/Obstacle Class rules below.
The obstacle class for the Country/Plantation division will not require a canter. AA.
Racking Horse Division: 1.
The Racking Division is open to any Racking Horse which is being used as a 4-H project.
Classes in this division will be open to any horse being plain shod or wearing pads. 2.
Clothing Specifications: Minimum Requirements: Saddle Seat Pants, Jodhpur boots, Shirt, Approved hard hat, Coat Optional:Spurs (may NOT be roweled), Tie, Gloves Restricted (to be cause for disqualification): Loafers or tennis shoes, Blue Jeans
