Rider any age. 7b) Mixed Mountain and Moorland Ridden Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highlands, New Forest and Welsh Section C & D.

Rider any age. NPS Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS.

Ponies must be registered in the NPS Riding Pony Stud Book, Register or Appendix, the GSB, the AHSB, the AASB or registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books.

Part-Breds are not eligible unless entered in the NPS Stud Book, Register or Appendix.

Ponies must be plaited. Qualifying rounds are open to both NPS Members and Non Members but only the highest placed NPS Adult member, on production of their Membership Card in the ring, will be eligible to qualify for the Final.

A valid Membership Card must be in the Rider’s/ Handler’s possession on entering the ring.

Unless otherwise stated, the first prize winners from each class will go forward to the Final to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show, Malvern, in August 2009.

A pony may only qualify once.

Where the first pony in the class has already qualified, the pony next in line which has not qualified will be deemed the qualifier.

Qualification no lower than 3rd place. NPS Adult/Standard members will be required to upgrade to Adult/Showing to enter the Final.

Open Ridden Cob, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 155cms.

These classes are designed to encourage the horse/pony and rider to perform stylishly.

Method of Judging: 1.

Horses / Ponies will enter the ring individually and jump a course of obstacles designed to produce a maximum of 10 jumping efforts. 2.

Each jumping effort will be marked out of 10 – at the Judge’s discretion. 3.

There is no set penalty for a pole down or run out but three refusals will result in elimination. 4.

Fall of horse or rider will result in elimination. 5.

There will be no mark awarded for conformation or manners, but a mark will be awarded for overall impression at the completion of each round.

Maximum mark to be awarded out of 20. 6.

In the event of a tie, the overall impression mark will determine the final placings.

Should there still be an quality of marks, the jumping marks will be taken into consideration – the comparison beginning with fence one and continuing thereafter until a result is achieved.

Classes will be divided as follows: 18a) Working Horse / Pony, maximum height of fences 76 cms (2’6”) 18b) Working Horse / Pony, maximum height of fences 92 cms (3”) 18c) M&M Working Pony, maximum height of fences 71cms (2’4”) 18d) Junior Zenith.

Not exceeding 133 cms.

Class 19 “The National Pony Society/Berrington Stud Mountain & Moorland Junior Working Hunter Pony Championship.” To be judged under the Rules of the NPS. 19a) Ponies not exceeding 128 cm (12.2 hh).

Riders must not have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January in the current year. — Class 20 “The National Pony Society/Mountain & Moorland Novice Working Hunter Pony Championship” To be judged under the Rules of The National Pony Society. 20a) Ponies not exceeding 122 cm (12.0 h.h.) 20b) Ponies exceeding 122 cm (12.0 h.h.) but not exceeding 138 cm (13.2h.h.) 20c) Ponies exceeding 138 cm (13.2 h.h.) Stallions, mares and geldings, four years old or over. A pony shall not be deemed to be a novice if by 1st January of the current year it has:- i) won an open NPS Affiliated Mountain & Moorland WHP class, or ii) won a class at a M&M Working Hunter Pony Championship (Final at HOYS or RIHS) qualifying round or iii) qualified for the NPS M&M Novice/Intermediate Working Hunter Pony Championship Final at Malvern Should a pony qualify for the Open M&M Working Hunter Pony Championship Final at HOYS or RIHS, it may not compete in any further Novice Working Hunter Pony Classes at NPS Affiliated Shows Class 21 P(UK) CONFINED NOVICE HORSELODE M&M WHP WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP.

Confined Novice Mixed Mountain and Moorland WHP Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years and over Registered in the approved section of their respective Pure Breed Section of the Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Connemara, Highland, Dales, Fells, Highland, New Forest, Welsh Sections A, B, C & D.

NOT to have won a first prize of £10 or more in any open mixed M&M WHP classification before 1st January in the current year.

Rider any age.

Height of fences to be according to the Confined Novice WHP Rules as listed in the Ponies Association (UK) 2008 Rule Book.

Fences adjusted for each section. Class 22 P(UK) HORSELODE M&M WHP CHAMPIONSHIP.

Mixed Mountain and Moorland WHP Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, registered in the approved section of their respective Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highlands, New Forest and Welsh Sections A, B, C & D.

Rider any Age. May be divided into two or three classes according to entries, the two highest placed ponies not already qualified within the first six places in each class will qualify.

Working Hunter Pony Mare or Gelding 4 years old and over, NOT to have won a first prize of £10.00 or more in an open WHP class before the 1st January in the current year, not exceeding 158cms.

Riders must be the correct age for the animal they ride as stated in the 2008 Rule Book 133cm /14 years 143cms/17 years 153cms/20 years 158cms/25 years 1st 2nd and 3rd in each class to qualify Class 24 P(UK) DOWNLAND SMUGGLER WHP WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP.

Working Hunter Pony Mare or Gelding 4 years old and over, not exceeding 158cms.

Riders must be correct age for the animal they ride as stated in the 2008 Rule Book 133cm /14 years 143cms/17 years 153cms/20 years 158cms/25 years.

May be divided by height, according to 2008 Rule Book.

NOT to have won a first prize of £10 or more in any open mixed M&M In Hand classification before 1st January in the current year.

Class 33 P(UK) KESTON ROYAL OCCASION M&M IN HAND WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP. 33a) Mixed Mountain and Moorland In Hand Yearling Colt, Filly or Gelding, Registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highland, New Forest and Welsh A, B, C, or D. N.B.

Shows holding Foal Classes before 31st December may award qualifiers for the Keston Royal Occasion M&M In Hand Yearling Championship Three Year olds qualifying before the 31st December 2008 will qualify for the Senior 4 years old and over Winter Championship of their Respective Breeds. 33b) Mixed Mountain and Moorland In Hand Colt, Filly or Gelding, 2 or 3 years old.

Registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor Shetland, Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highland, New Forest and Welsh A, B, C or D. 33c) Mixed Mountain and Moorland In Hand Pony Stallion, Mare or Gelding 4 years old and over.

Registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, and Welsh Section A and B. 33d) Mixed Mountain and Moorland In Hand Pony Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old & over.

Registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highland, New Forest and Welsh Section C and D. Class 34 P(UK) CHESHAM HANDLER WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP.

All handler classes are to be Judged on the handlers presentation and showing technique. 34a) Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 153cms, to be led by a handler who has attained their 7th birthday but has not attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current year. 34 b) Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 158cms, to be led by a handler who has attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current year. This show is a qualifier for the 2009 P (UK) Winter Championships Show.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each qualifying class will qualify.competitors in qualifying positions, who are not current members of Ponies (UK) are allowed 14 days in which to become members and register their horses/ponies in order for the qualification to remain valid. No Qualification cards will be awarded in the ring NPS Winter Championship Qualifying Rounds This show is affiliated to the National Pony Society and the NPS affiliated classes will be run under NPS rules.

Classes are open to Members and Non-Members of the NPS, but Non-Members will need to become Adult Showing members to enter the finals at the NPS Spring Festival 2009. The NPS General Rules for Showing apply. In each class the three highest placed ponies, not already qualified, within the first six places, will qualify.

Winnings in the 2008/2009 Novice and Pure Novice Winter Championships will not debar ponies from the NPS 2009 Mountain and Moorland Novice Ridden competitions. NPS Mountain and Moorland Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS.

Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books.

Part breds are not eligible.

Ponies to be trimmed only within their Breed Society specification.

Manes must not be plaited and tails must not be braided.

All ponies in Novice Classes must be shown in one of the snaffle bits illustrated in the NPS Official List of Judges and Rules. Qualifying rounds are open to both NPS Members and Non Members but only the highest placed NPS Adult member, on production of their membership card in the ring, will be eligible to qualify for the Final.
