Supreme Ridden Pony/Horse Champion of the show and Reserve – Open to and compulsory for all champions from points 1 to 6. DRIVING CLASSES Ponies and Horses to enter the ring at a trot. Ponies and Horses will be judged according to the following sequence: Normal trot – walk – normal trot – extended trot. Extreme speed will be penalised.
Extreme high action will be penalised in the buckboard pleasure driving. Ponies and Horses will be required to stand quietly and back in the line-up.
Handlers will be allowed in the arena during line- up. Ponies and Horses to be judged for: 1) Manners. 2) Quality of gaits. 3) Performance. Either one or two ponies/horses to be shown in harness in buckboard pleasure driving, only one pony/horse allowed in pleasure driving. Exhibitors to dress conservatively and neatly in pleasure driving classes: Gentleman must wear a jacket, a bowler or similar type hat and a tie. Ladies must wear a conservative dress, tailored suit or slacks with a hat.
Floppy hats are discouraged.
If a short dress or suit is worn, a lap robe is required. Exhibitors may wear rainwear if weather conditions require. Grooms shall be neatly and suitably attired. The buckboard driving class is designed to depict the early American or Frontier age of which the appaloosa was part.
The entry shall be limited to not more than four people riding in the vehicle.
The class will be judged on authenticity of equipment, attire of riders, markings and colourful qualities of ponies and horses – the overall picture and presentation to be considered.
Four wheeled vehicles are mandatory in this class irrespective of whether showing in single or double harness. The driving section will be divided into the following classes: — e) Scarf, pin, bolo or string tie. f) Gloves, either string or leather. g) Chaps and a vest/jacket optional. (Unless otherwise specified). h) Long hair should be securely tied back.
Hairnets are permissible WESTERN PLEASURE PONY OR HORSE CLASSES Ponies and Horses required to walk, jog and lope both directions of the ring. Open ponies and horses will be required to extend the lope. Ponies and Horses will be required to back in the line-up. Ponies and Horses will be judged according to qualifications in order of precedence: 1) Manners. 4) Conformation. 2) Performance. 5) Suitability of horse to rider. 3) Quality of gaits. 6) Presence. The pleasure Pony or horse section will be divided into the following classes: 1.
Novice western pleasure pony/horse. 2.
Open western pleasure pony/horse.
