Much pleasure has been had this year with Shetlands and Miniatures around the local Downs Shows.
Palomino stallion Butterfield Comet has produced five foals, all are coloured, and now these are making their presence known around these shows.
All of the Comet foals are either APSB, Mini or Dilute Registered, so this allows them to compete extensively at these shows, which keeps Don and Lynette very active.
The progeny of L Bar Trident, Trident now sold to Karen Richardson of the Adonai Shetland Ponies in Victoria, have mad Don and Lynette very proud with their performances at the local shows also.
L Bar Julia’s daughter, L Bar Juliette (3 registrations) has been awarded some major placings in APSB, Mini and Dilute.
I think the best has been the Dilutes where she has had to compete with much bigger ponies and horses for Champion Ancillary Mare or Filly at Warwick, a big achievement for a yearling !!! L Bar Crusty, a cremello son of Comets, was shown for the first time at the Young Stock Show in Toowoomba where he surprised everyone for he was awarded first and reserve champion yearling colt in the Cremello Colt, Best Presented, and first and champion Miniature pony or Colt.
Trident’s three year old daughter , L Bar Jopper has done very well for us, the performance which we feel was excellent was at the Young Stock Show at Toowoomba where she gained a fifth in the Open Three Year Old Futurity, first and champion Shetland and Champion in the Best Three Year Old Exhibit of the Show.
Our lovely black mare L Bar Jam Drops ( Trident’s daughter) was champion and supreme at Clifton, champion Shetland at Oakey, Champion at Killarney, second and Reserve in Towoomba, first in her class at the Stud Show.comet has been shown this year, what a delightful little gentleman to take out anywhere.
He has performed SO well where ever he has been taken.
Many Championships, Supremes both in Dilutes, Minis and APSB Sections.
This lovely nature has been passed on to all of his progeny.
We are so proud to own such a pony as they are hard to find..
Koorootang Weston was purchased as our Senior Shetland Stallion.
He has performed quite well in the few shows that he has been to.
This year was a Champion at Clifton.
Toowoomba Royal Champion Stallion/Colt and at the Queensland Stud Pony Show was Junior Champion Colt and second in the colour class. L Bar Crusty by Butterfield Comet out of L Bar Clodah. 80.4cm.
Shown for first time at Dilutes Young Stock Show Toowoomba 2011, for 1st and champion Cremello colt.
A big win for Crusty who was competing with a good line up of larger Cremellos.

Branch of the APSBS since 2004 holding Annual Dartmoor Breed Shows ever since.
We are interested in raising the awareness of this wonderful breed of pony to the general community as it has gone for many years “under the radar” and still remains extremely rare not only here in Australia but in the UK, it’s native homeland, where it still remains on the Rare Breeds List.
Anyone who has owned a Dartmoor knows why they are perfectly suited to children with their docile, kind and yet willing temperaments.
The DPG has been busy presenting two very successful Pony Breed Shows at Boonah, one late 2010 in November and the other in April this year.
Since the numbers of Dartmoors has been declining in the show ring (most are stay at home or pony club kids ponies) the DPG decided to open up its shows to M & M and other APSBS breeds.
The first show had approx 40 ponies entered, mostly Mountain & Moorland breeds and was a great fun, relaxed family day.
See full picture coverage of show elsewhere in newsletter.
We had the International judge Mr Scott McGregor to judge the Dartmoors and the M & M classes and his Supreme for both went to the very nice Dartmoor mare Skye-Mist Bizzy Bee owned by Mrs.
Billiau (pic below left) The Supreme Partbred Dartmoor went to Mr.

Sparks). Since this show was so popular the DPG decided to continue with the M & M classes with its 2011 Show held at Boonah in April.
This time we had over 60 ponies entered! Even though the weather had been terrible leading up to the show it turned out to be cloudy but dry all day and the show was a huge success.
We must thank all our sponsors especially FARMCRAFT for continuing to be our major sponsor, also Barastoc, Mitavite and all the others who make these events possible.
Our 2012 DPG FARMCRAFT Pony Breed Show is already being planned and will be held again at Boonah on Saturday 3rd March.
Pictured below, the very large Leading Rein & Fancy Dress classes, these are so popular with the children and spectators alike! The judge at our April 2011 show for the M & M ring was Mr John Riley from the Qld Welsh RPG (Full picture coverage can be found elsewhere in the newsletter).
