Carrington’s Saddlery Queensland Flood Effort Carrington’s Saddlery was the first Victorian based group to pull together a relief effort to assist victims of the Queensland flooding.
They have arranged for transport company Startrack Express to ship donations to QLD.
TREW was impressed by their efforts and offered to assist them in collecting and transporting donated goods to their drop off point at Petstock in Bendigo.
Items were been collected from various areas throughout Victoria.
TREW President Leigh delivered these items over a number of separate deliveries to Bendigo in his truck.
Donations have included palletized feed, rugs, medical items, saddles, helmets, saddle blankets, halters and lead ropes in every shape, colour and style ever produced.
TREW would like to especially thank the anonymous members from the Vic Horse Forum for their donation that filled the truck‟s tray up in one go. We would like to thank everyone who helped out during the Flood relief effort. Page Seven Newsletter — Triple R Equine Welfare — Fifth Edition TREW Tommy—A Christmas Pony In December TREW was contacted by a gentleman asking if we had any ponies available for adoption for a young family with a horse crazy young daughter.
It quickly became apparent that we had a very suitable candidate.
Tommy, the miniature pony whose youth was annoying his aging paddock mate Mac.
A home for Tommy where he would be the centre of attention would be ideal would be ideal for the little spunk.
With the lease agreement signed and sealed, it was decided that Tommy could be delivered to his new home on Christmas Day! All of Tommy‟s Christmases came at once when he spotted the hay bales stacked in the float to keep him occupied during his trip to Daylesford.
The hay served a second purpose, to keep the little pony from going walk -about within the float.
Tommy floated and travelled like a pro.
Arriving at his new home, Tommy was met by a very anxious 9 year old girl and her younger brother.
Tjana and Shannon showed Tommy around his new paddock, with the little white pony not hesitating when the children led him into a strange shed and blew bubbles around him.
TREW has been in contact with the family since Tommy was delivered and everyone is delighted with Tommy.
He has settled in perfectly and Tjana is now riding Tommy completely unassisted and he has not put a hoof wrong.
We could not ask for a better outcome! Horse & Country Saddlery and 3BO Radio — Bendigo Horse and Country saddlery on McIvor Road in Bendigo invited TREW to join them and 3BO at their shop on Saturday 9th of April.
Bendigo‟s local radio station, 3BO, was doing an outside broadcast from the shop that morning and a sausage sizzle was held as a fundraiser for TREW.
TREW‟s Leigh and Jessie attended the event.
It was an enjoyable morning, made even better with the rain holding off until the trip homeward.
Leigh was invited to go on air and made his first radio appearance (a new career perhaps?).
The day was finished with some shopping at the saddlery.
Thank you to Horse and Country and 3BO for inviting us and for their support of TREW and the local horse community. Page Eight Newsletter — Triple R Equine Welfare — Fifth Edition Introducing TREW Bam — Homed Bam is a 2 year old Thoroughbred gelding.
He‟s quite small for a TB and we‟d be very surprised if he makes it to 15hh.
He is very intelligent and has very good movement for such a young horse.
Bam is well handled and is relatively easy to CSF.
Bam is very quick and nimble and would be suitable for anything from Dressage or Polo.
Bam has already found a new home with TREW‟s dentist who fell in love upon meeting this spunky young gelding.
He floated well to his new home.
We look forward to hearing about what the future holds for this young man. Equitana, 2010 Equitana has come and gone for another year.
While TREW did not have a stand due to the large overhead costs involved we took the chance to catch up with friends and renew old relationships.
We were very pleased to be able to catch up with Ben Duncan from Horserail.
For those of you who remember, Horserail donated thousands of dollars worth of fencing material to the Black Saturday Relief Effort.
Equitana was a good chance to have a meet and greet with some of our members which we all thoroughly enjoyed. World Animal Day, 2010
